my long running quartet with Adam Shulman, Eric Markowitz, and James Gallagher will be hosting a 3 set tour de bop with many of my favorite local horn players- Noel Jewkes, James Mahone, Kristen Strom, Mike Olmos, Tony Peebles, and Erik Jekabson.
This is like a family reunion for me- over the last 13 years that I have called this city home, these have been some of my closest mentors, collaborators, inspirations, and friends. I like to think the quartet itself has become a bit of an institution, through our near-decade of weeklies at Club Deluxe and our current Wednesday night engagement at the Redwood Room, so I am really pleased that we can help kick things off at what will certainly become one of the main hubs of our scene in the coming years.
Everyone out here knows that the history of North Beach is drenched in jazz and good times, and we all have felt the dearth of real clubs presenting our music over the last few years. This is a truly exciting chance for us to write a new chapter, and you can all be a part of it! Reservations are strongly urged, and I look forward to seeing many of you there.
